A methodology is proposed for the analysis of uncertainty in the values of \\(u\\) at a given space-time point. The case is considered when the distribution of \\(Z\\) is unknown. At first a confidence domain \\(I_X\\) for \\(Z\\) must be identified to which \\(Z\\) belongs wit high probability. Then an approximate solution \\(u_n\\) is calculated on a discrete grid on \\(I_X\\) and interpolated over all \\(I_X\\), and the obtained solution is analyzed.  In fact the authors concentrate on the accuracy of the approximation and interpolation discussing different approaches (such as sparse grid interpolation and Galerkin approximation). A damped linear oscillator equation and a homogeneous diffusion equation are considered as examples.","citation":[{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q5900108"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q4653886"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q1968633"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q955267"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q2381168"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q4232766"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q3162840"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q1033416"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q598122"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q1013191"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q1773081"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q3207999"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q5600030"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q2485386"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q649448"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q1346592"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q3538690"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q5268569"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q5470357"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q4785938"},{"@id":"https://portal.mardi4nfdi.de/entity/Q1010315"}]},"provenance":{"prov:generatedAtTime":"2026-01-16T04:35:12Z","prov:wasAttributedTo":"MaRDI Knowledge Graph"}}
