Type A semigroups are adequate semigroups S with \\(ea=a(ea)^*\\), \\(ae=(ae)^{\\dag}a\\) for all idempotents e and for all a in S, where \\(a^* (a^{\\dag}\\), resp.) denotes the unique idempotent in the \\({\\mathcal L}^*\\)-class (\\({\\mathcal R}^*\\)-class) of a. The author gives a characterization of the structure of type A semigroups by using *-traces as it was done by \\textit{J.
