The finitary general linear group \\(FGL(V) =\\text{FAut}_ D V\\) is the subgroup of \\(\\text{Aut}_ DV\\) of \\(D\\)-automorphisms \\(g\\) of \\(V\\) such that \\([V,g] = V(g - 1)\\) has finite dimension over \\(D\\). A finitary skew linear group is a subgroup of \\(FGL(V)\\) for some \\(D\\) and \\(V\\).   The main result is Theorem: Let \\(G\\) be a locally soluble finitary linear group over a locally finite-dimensional division algebra. (a) \\(G\\) has a normal subgroup \\(N\\) such that the \\(\\omega\\)th term \\(N^{(\\omega)}\\) of the derived series of \\(N\\) is hyperabelian and \\(G/N\\) is hyperabelian with hyperabelian length at most \\(\\omega\\). (b) \\(G\\) has a local system of normal subgroups \\(N\\) such that \\(N\\) is hypoabelian with derived length less than \\(\\omega^ 2\\). (c) \\(G\\) is (unipotent)-by-(abelian)-by-(locally finite)."},"provenance":{"prov:generatedAtTime":"2025-12-31T23:48:24Z","prov:wasAttributedTo":"MaRDI Knowledge Graph"}}
