The problem can be reformulated in studying the asymptotic behavior of the solution \\(u_\\epsilon\\) of a transmission problem in the pair of domains consisting of a highly oscillating \\(\\epsilon\\)-periodic medium and its complementary set. By means of two-scale homogenization, the authors first obtain the homogenized equation describing the wave propagation of the effective wave field. Then they investigate the higher order convergence rate by exploiting complimentary boundary correctors.
